I was born in Connersville, Indiana, and graduated from Connersville High School in 1955. I continued my education at Ball State Teachers College in 1956 before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, where I served honorably until September 1964.
In 1966, I began my career in the insurance industry, working alongside my father-in-law at Richey Brothers Insurance in Indianapolis. On March 19, 1969, I became a licensed insurance agent in the State of Indiana and subsequently purchased the agency.
In 1970, I relocated to Carmel, where I built my home and continued to grow my business. In 2016, I sold the agency to Fearrin Insurance and transitioned into a broker role, where I continue to serve clients today.
